Macbeth Relativity
Macbeth is really an age old story that has repeated itself through history multiple times, the power hungry villian, and the enemy that will eventually kill him. Although many times this awful story has been repeated people still don't learn. Wars about power are still being commited, murders of leaders still taking place, and people struggling for power. I think that Macbeth is relative to almost every change of power in any government.

I completley agree with George. On about the fourth or fifth page in our Macbeth book there was a picture of a version of Macbeth done with an African dictator. This shows that the story of Macbeth can be diversified through many different cultures and in many different contexts, but mainly based on power.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is relative to almost every government that I know of. People are power hungry, and when they get a taste of power, they simply want more. And once they do something to get that power, like murder, they will not stop at anything, and will continue with murder, and betrayal until they get what they want. Unfortunately in most cases, there is no stop to their desires, and they will always want more.
ReplyDeleteAlex Janeiro: Just like in Macbeth History has its Macduff. Many people consumed with power are brought down by some sort of hero.
ReplyDeleteSALik: i agree with you alex but thats not completely true beacuse North Korea still has a dictatorship and there isnt anybody stepping up to stop the dictatorship.

ReplyDeleteGeorge is right. Macbeth is and will remain so popular because it deals with issues that are timeless. In any culture, at anypoint in time in history, everyone has dealt with the same problems that the characters in the play face. War, the hunger for power, and the question of morality has come into play several times throughout history and will continue to pose problems to future generations. The ideas Shakepeare touches on his writing are timeless which explains their immense popularity of the years.
