Macbeth's Popularity
The story of Macbeth has been so popular because it can translate into many different cultures and contexts. Macbeth plays into many different human themes such as ambition, jealousy, and power. Shakespeare deeply understands human emotion and human thinking, and he transfers that knowledge into his work. The human themes shown in Macbeth are constants in the world. They are universal emotions that everyone can relate to, so everyone understands Macbeth’s motives, regardless of how dark and twisted they are.

What's even more amazing is that his work of writing is still something WE can relate to, even though it was written several hundred years ago. I can understand Macbeth being popular at the time of it being written, because Shakespeare included so many current events from his time into the humor, but the fact that students in this time can understand the feelings being conveyed is amazing. Shakespeare knew what he was doing.
ReplyDeleteYeah that is weird that even though it's been hundreds of years later people still can relate to Macbeth and they still act it out. I can't think of any other play writer who has plays nearly as popular as shakespeare's.
